Abu Dhabi – Mubadala World Tennis Championship 2011

Saw the advertisement of Mubadala World Tennis Championship while walking at the Corniche. Immediately went to search online and realised that there were still tickets available and the tickets were unbelievably cheap. Think it was like SGD40 per tic.

Was so excited to see my 1st ever tennis match!

The boys fooling ard

I also cannot lose out!

Rushed to eat some lunch because we heard Nadal was having signing session!

It was my 1st time eating out of the famous paper box for chinese food.

Eric sun-tanning while eating. Don’t look too happy right ?

After gobbling down all the food, we quickly proceeded to queue up to get our signature. and i got my extremely big tennis ball to get the signatures. BUT !! the q was extremely long and we gave up cos we knew we can’t possibly get Nadal’s signature.

Me with my BIG tennis ball

Taking shots of Nadal from far

So we went into the stadium earlier and started taking pics with the stadium and wonderful blue sky. We were shocked by the view that we could get from the cheapest ticket. It was totally worth it and no need for a binoculars unless u want to see the player’s expressions.

Tada ! the stadium! love the blue~*

and the match started! beginning with Ferrer Vs Tsonga and then Djokovic  Vs Monfils

The crowd

The people in charge of giving the balls to the player ( donno wat’s their role called )

Ferrer Vs Tsonga ( Ferrer won)

Doing the coin toss to determine who serves first

Djokovic Vs Monfils (Djokovic won)

As there were 2 matches and the 1st match started at 3pm, by the time the 2nd match was starting the sun was going down and also the temperature. and it was pretty windy as our seats were at the top.

and we were underdressed and hence freezing our ass and shivering each time the wind blow.

The half frozen boys. They so wanted to leave to have their steamboat but I sort of insisted on watching the entire match. They were literally screaming “steamboat” when Djokovic won. :p

It was definitely an interesting and wonderful experience. =)

Abu Dhabi – Science Festival

This post is long overdued. Went to this science festival that was held in the corniche about 1 month back. We went there just to have a look see with no idea what to expect. However, we were surprised by the exhibit and impressed!

Before going into the exhibit, shall present some photos that we took on the way when we crossed the road via underpass to get to corniche. and there were paintings on the walls which depicts the Arabs.

Covered the person holding the camel and replaced him with myself.haaa

Went into the main place which was set up with introductory video and an exhibit hall.

1001 Inventions : Mainly introducing inventions that were made by Muslims and how they have made a difference to our current life.

The main exhibit hall

The interesting part of the exhibit was that it was a very interactive one which had videos of the “inventors” speaking and explaining to you what was their invention. In addition, there are people role playing as inventors and explaining to you in more details of their invention. INTERESTING !!! and in addition there are also interactive experiments to further explain the inventions. ( read in a magazine that these people are actually students from Abu Dhabi University. )

The video of the inventor. Very good acting! reminded me of harry potter. you know like moving photo.

Jc listening.

Goodbye Science Exhibition ! Truly enjoyed the exhibition. And best part ? IT IS FREE!!!! WOAHHHHHHH!!!!

Do visit the exhibition as it’s opened till 24/12. which is till tomorrow ??? oppsss!

Happy 40th National Day UAE

2nd December (Today) is the 40th national day of UAE.

And you can see on the roads and the whole of the country how much the people love their country. Many put car stickers on their whole car just to commerate the national day ( even mercedes is not spared from the green and red little heart stickers on around the whole of the car ).

The cars

Pink bike modified and painted in pink and UAE national day stickers

Malls which paste their whole glass door with the 7 Sheikhs who heads the 7 emirates respectively. And of course the famous emirates would be Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

The Emirates Palace shooting out laser beams to commerate the national day

The Ethihad building in the colours of the emirates ( red, green, white )

The trees at the corniche dressed in lights!

Happy 40th national day UAE ! love from me and jc!
